Child Care Centre at St.Mary’s – Client - Penrith City Council

Duration of project - Design Documentation period – 3 months

Project description- The existing building had been used as a Pre-School for 3-5 year old children for a number of years. The Council required a complete redesign of the interior of the building. Also the age group of the children using the Child care facility was to be changed to include the 0-3 year’s age group. The facilities were re-designed. Details were prepared to incorporate a new nappy changing area and bottle preparation area. The internal layout was changed and re-furbished to suit.

The services provided were as follows,

 

  1. Concept Design of facilities as per DoCS Licencing requirements.
  2. Detailed design after Clients approval of Concept design.
  3. Area calculations to determine number of Child Care spaces.
  4. DA/ CC Documentation for Council approval, including plans, elevations, sections, statement of environmental effects.
  5. Statement of Compliance and a detailed checklist of all features as required by DoCS.
  6. Plans and documentation for DoCS.
  7. Specifications for constructions and materials used.

The project was completed in a timely manner, to the satisfaction of Council.

Child Care Centre at Condoblin – Client Lachlan Shire Council

Location Condobolin NSW

Duration of project - Design Documentation period – 3 weeks

Project description - Condobolin preschool required a new pre-school to be designed as an extension to its existing preschool, to accommodate more children. The new Preschool of 230 m˛ was designed attached to the existing preschool to accommodate a total of 59 children. The existing facilities were re-designed and re-furbished to suit.

The services provided were as follows,

  1. Concept Design of facilities as per DoCS Licencing requirements.
  2. Detailed design after Clients approval of Concept design.
  3. Area calculations to determine number of Child Care spaces.
  4. DA/ CC Documentation for Council approval.
  5. Statement of Compliance and a detailed checklist of all features as required by DoCS
  6. Plans and documentation for DoCS.
  7. Specifications for constructions and materials used.

This project came as a referral from Penrith City Council. Lachlan Shire Council is the sister Council of Penrith City Council and the project design and documentation had to be completed in a very short time frame to be eligible for government funding.

The project was completed on time and to the satisfaction of the client.

Child Care Centre at Claremont Meadows – Private Client

Project description: An existing house was to be refurbished and designed to be used as a Child Care Facility. The project ran in stages. First approval was gained from Council to operate as a Pre school with 14 children, above the age of 3 years. The pre-school was operational for over a year. A second application was made to increase the number to 24 children with a wider ages group. Considerations had to be made at the design stage, especially due to the noise factor as the property was situated in a residential area.

The services provided were as follows,

  2. Area calculations to determine number of Child Care spaces.
  3. CC Documentation for Council approval.
  4. Specifications for constructions and materials used.
  5. Arranging Fire Safety inspections.
  6. Arranging quotes from Builders to get a cost estimate on all requirements.
  7. Design of structure as per Noise Management consultant reports.

Child Care Centre at  Schofields – Country Life Early Learning Centre

Project description: An existing Child Care facility serving children aged 2-6 years wanted to be used for serving 0-2 year olds.   

The services provided were as follows,

  1. Drawings were prepared as per DoCS Licencing requirements.
  2. Area calculations to determine number of Child Care spaces.
  3. Detailed DoCS compliance report prepared.

Child Care Centre at MULGOA

Location – Mulgoa, NSW

Duration of project -                 Design Documentation period – 4 months

Project description: The project involved designing a new Child Care Centre on a vacant land. The land was sloping and provision had to be made to make the entire proposal completely accessible for all people. The design proposal is modern, yet takes into account the rural nature of the surrounding land. All effort was made to retain existing trees and design around them. The car park was designed to allow for large service vehicles including ambulances and fire fighting vehicles. Accessible car parking space was provided for, right next to the main entrance of the facility. Child proof fencing was designed and indicated on all plans.

The design is based on a courtyard style plan with children’s activity rooms surrounding the courtyard. A separate outdoor area was proposed for the 0-2 year’s group, separate from the main outdoor play area.

Internally, 3 separate areas were designed for different age groups of children. All children activity rooms opened into the outdoor play area. Sanitary facilities for the children were accessible from their activity rooms as well as the outdoor play area. Staff Administrative rooms were proposed at the front of the facility facing the car park to provide a buffer for the safety of the children.  All utility rooms were placed facing the side boundary for service access.

 

Details were prepared to show compliance with the DoCS licensing requirements. Detailed Access Audit report was prepared with detailed drawings for all accessible facilities provided in the facility.
